Abstract

In April 2020 there was a deflation of 0.92 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 102.31. Out of 90 CPI cities, 39 cities experienced inflation and 51 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Bau-Bau by 0.88 percent with CPI of 103.16 and the lowest occurred in Balikpapan, Depok and Cirebon by 0.02 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Pangkalpinang by 0.92 percent with CPI of 102.31 and the lowest occurred in Bogor and Semarang by 0.02 percent.
Deflation occurred due to falling prices as indicated by the decline in most indexes of the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.52 percent; the transportation group by 2.78 percent and the information, communication and financial services group by 1.56 percent. While the group that experienced inflation was the group of equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance by 0.11 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.06 percent and the personal care and other services group by 1.24 percent. While the clothing and footwear group; housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups; health group; recreation, sports and culture groups; and the education group did not experience changes in the index / stable.
The April 2020 calendar year inflation rate is -0.58 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (April 2020 against April 2019) is 0.45 percent.
The energy component in April 2020 was stable or did not experience changes in the index. The inflation rate of the April 2020 calendar year energy component is -0.27 percent and the year-to-year inflation rate of the energy component (April 2020 to April 2019) is -0.24 percent. The food component in April 2020 experienced a deflation of 2.26 percent. The inflation rate of the foodstuff component of the April 2020 calendar year is -1.18 percent and the inflation rate of the foodstuff component year to year (April 2020 against April 2019) is 0.98 percent.
