In September 2020, Tanjungpandan City experienced inflation of 0.20 percent with a CPI of 104.63. Of the 90 CPI cities, 34 experienced inflation and 56 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Gunungsitoli at 1.00 percent with the CPI at 104.96 and the lowest occurred in Pekanbaru and Pontianak at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Timika at 0.83 percent with the CPI at 106.50 and the lowest in Bukittinggi, Jember, and Singkawang at 0.01 percent.
Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in some of the index for the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.47 percent; equipment, tools and household routine maintenance group by 0.13 percent; health group of 0.14 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.97 percent. Some of the other expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely the clothing and footwear group at 0.01 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuels group of 0.02 percent; and the transportation group by 0.27 percent. Meanwhile, the information, communication and financial services group; recreational, sports, and cultural groups; education group; and the food and beverage / restaurant supply group did not experience any changes.
The inflation rate for the calendar year for September 2020 is 0.18 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2020 against September 2019) is 0.67 percent.
The energy group in September 2020 experienced deflation of 0.01 percent with a CPI of 100.39. Meanwhile, the foodstuff component in September 2020 experienced inflation of 0.49 percent with a CPI of 102.57.
