Abstract

August 2018, Pangkalpinang experienced deflation of 1.03 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 139.47
Deflation occurred due to a decrease in prices as indicated by the decline in several expenditure group indexes: foodstuffs group by 1.41 percent; clothing group by 0.15 percent; and the transportation, communication and financial services group by 5.35 percent. While expenditure groups experiencing inflation were processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.17 percent; housing, water, electricity and fuel group by 0.18 percent; health group by 0.26 percent; and recreation, and sports education groups at 1.52 percent
The inflation rate for August 2018 calendar year is 1.84 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2018 against August 2017) is 3.40 percent
The core component in August 2018 experienced inflation of 0.17 percent; volatile deflation of 1.48 percent; and the government regulated deflation component of 4.03 percent
