Abstract

  • In October 2018 the city of Pangkalpinang experienced a deflation of 0.34 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 139.07.
  • Deflation occurs due to a decrease in prices as indicated by the decline in the index in the two expenditure groups, namely: the foodstuffs group at 1.33 percent and the transportation, communication and financial services group at 1.50 percent. While the other five expenditure groups experienced inflation, namely: processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 0.30 percent; housing, water, electricity and fuel group by 0.74 percent; clothing group by 0.14 percent; health group by 0.26 percent; and recreational education and sports groups by 0.03 percent.
  • The inflation rate for the calendar year of October 2018 is 1.55 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2018 to October 2017) is 3.02 percent.
  • The core component in October 2018 experienced inflation of 0.11 percent; volatile component of deflation of 0.80 percent; and the government regulated deflation component of 1.13 percent.
  • The Combined Two Cities in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, namely Pangkalpinang City and Tanjungpandan in October 2018 experienced a deflation of 0.01 percent with CPI 140.35.
