Abstract

Abstraction
  • The economy of the Bangka Belitung Islands in the first quarter of 2020 as measured by the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices (ADHB) reached Rp. 18,631 billion and the GRDP at constant prices (ADHK) in 2010 reached Rp. 13,161 billion.
  • The economy of the Bangka Belitung Islands in the first quarter of 2020 grew 1.35 percent, slowing compared to the first quarter of 2019 (y-on-y) which grew by 2.81 percent. From the production side, the slowdown in economic performance was caused by two business sectors that had a large contribution contracting (negative growth), namely the mining and quarrying business and the manufacturing industry. Meanwhile in terms of expenditure, the slowdown in economic performance was influenced by the component of Gross Fixed Capital Formation and Overseas Exports that contracted in the first quarter of 2020.
  • When compared to quarter IV-2019 (q-to-q), the economy of the Bangka Belitung Islands in the first quarter of 2020 contracted by 3.66 percent. From the production side, the decline in economic performance occurred in a number of business fields that had a major contribution to the economy of the Bangka Belitung Islands, such as the mining and quarrying business, the manufacturing industry, construction, as well as large and retail trade, and repair of cars and motorbikes. In terms of expenditure, almost all components experienced a contraction except the components of foreign exports and household consumption expenditure.
  • The total ADHB GRDP of Sumatra Island in the first quarter of 2020 reached Rp.864,653 billion or around 21.39 percent of the total GRDP of 34 Provinces in Indonesia, while the ADHK GRDP of Sumatra Island in the first quarter of 2020 reached Rp 582,376 billion. The economic growth of the island of Sumatra in the first quarter of 2020 decreased by -1.85 percent (q-to-q), but on a y-on-y basis it grew by 3.25 percent. While the Bangka Belitung Islands GRDP contributed 2.15 percent to the Sumatra Island GRDP and 0.46 percent to the total 34 GRDP in Indonesia.
