Abstract

In April 2021, Tanjungpandan City experienced deflation of 0.02 percent with a CPI of 107.83. Of the 90 CPI cities, 72 experienced inflation and 18 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kotamobagu at 1.31 percent with a CPI of 107.89 and the lowest occurred in Yogyakarta at 0.01 percent with a CPI of 106.92. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Jayapura at 1.26 percent with the CPI at 104.20 and the lowest in Tanjungpandan at 0.02 percent with the CPI at 107.83.

Deflation occurred due to lower prices as indicated by a fall in the index for the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.06 percent; the transportation group of 0.07 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.61 percent. Some of the other expenditure groups experienced inflation, namely: the clothing and footwear group by 0.02 percent; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.23 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.05 percent; and the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.02 percent. The calendar year inflation rate is 1.12 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (April 2021 against April 2020) is 4.35 percent.

The energy group in April 2021 experienced inflation of 0.35 percent with the CPI of 103.92. Meanwhile, the foodstuff component in April 2021 experienced deflation of 0.11 percent with a CPI of 110.63.
