Abstract

  • In February 2022 a combination of 2 cities in Bangka Belitung experienced a deflation of 1.10 percent with a CPI of 108.35. The February 2022 calendar year deflation rate was 0.13 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (February 2022 versus February 2021) was 2.58 percent.
  • Both cities in the Bangka Belitung Islands province experienced deflation this month, with Pangkalpinang City at 0.53 percent with a CPI of 107.89 and Tanjungpandan City at 2.08 percent with a CPI of 109.20.
  • Deflation occurred due to a decline in prices as indicated by a decrease in indexes in 2 expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 3.64 percent and the health group by 0.09 percent. The expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the index were clothing and footwear by 0.06 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.16 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.54 percent; transportation group by 0.17 percent; information, communication, and financial services group by 0.16 percent; recreation, sports, and culture groups by 0.99 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.40 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 1.07 percent. The education group was the only expenditure group that did not experience a change in the index.
  • The main contribution to deflation in the combination of 2 cities in Bangka Belitung was contributed by commodities of selar fish, krisi fish and cooking oil. Meanwhile, inflation was caused by the increase in commodity prices of shallots, filter kretek cigarettes, and rice.
