Abstract

Abstraction
  • In March 2019, the level of inequality in the population expenditure of the Bangka Belitung Islands measured by the Gini Ratio was 0.269. This figure decreases by 0.003 points when compared to the September 2018 Gini Ratio which is 0.272. Meanwhile, when compared with the March 2018 Gini Ratio which was 0.281 it fell by 0.012 points.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2019 was 0.278, a decrease compared to the Gini Ratio in September and March 2018 which were 0.289 and 0.296 respectively. While the Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2019 was 0.230 up compared to the September 2018 Gini Ratio which was 0.222 and decreased compared to the March 2018 Gini Ratio which was 0.238.
  • Another measure of inequality that is often used is the percentage of expenditure in the lowest 40 percent population group. Based on this measure the level of inequality is divided into 3 categories, namely "high" if the number is below 12 percent, "moderate" if the number ranges from 12-17 percent, and "low" if the number is above 17 percent.
  • In March 2019, the distribution of expenditure in the lowest 40 percent group was 23.84 percent. This means that population expenditure is still in the low level of inequality category. If detailed by region, in urban areas the figure is 23.18 percent, while for rural areas it is 25.92 percent, which means that both in urban and rural areas fall into the category of low inequality.
