Abstract

In May 2022 Pangkalpinang City experienced inflation of 0.85 percent with a CPI of 112.00. Of the 90 CPI cities in Indonesia, 87 cities experienced inflation and 3 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tanjungpandan at 2.24 percent with a CPI of 116.00 and the lowest in Gunungsitoli and Tangerang at 0.05 percent with a CPI of 110.63 and 109.73, respectively.
  • Inflation was caused by an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index in 6 expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages and tobacco by 3.08 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.04 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel groups by 0.15 percent; equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.31 percent; health group by 0.01 percent; and the group providing food and beverages/restaurants by 0.95 percent. On the other hand, there were 3 expenditure groups that experienced deflation, namely: the transportation group by 1.83 percent; information, communication, and financial services group by 0.15 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.04 percent. Meanwhile, the recreational, sports and cultural groups as well as the education group did not experience a change in the index.
  • The May 2022 calendar year inflation rate is 4.52 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2022 to May 2021) is 6.94 percent.
  • The energy group in May 2022 experienced inflation of 0.25 percent with a CPI of 105.25. Meanwhile, the food ingredients component also experienced inflation of 3.80 percent with a CPI of 123.15.
