Abstract

In August 2023 there was Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation of 3.99 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 119.94. The highest y-on-y inflation occurred in Manokwari at 6.40 percent with a CPI of 122.04 and the lowest was in Jambi at 1.92 percent with a CPI of 116.37.
Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in most of the expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 3.15 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 2.37 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 1.00 percent; equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group by 1.58 percent; health group by 1.96 percent; transportation group by 16.53 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 1.72 percent; the education group by 1.78 percent; the group providing food and drink/restaurants by 2.12 percent; as well as the personal care and other services group of 4.63 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index was the information, communication and financial services group by 0.63 percent.
The Month to Month (m-to-m) deflation rate is 0.40 percent and the Year to Date (y-to-d) inflation rate is 3.81 percent.
The y-on-y inflation rate for the Energy component was 8.74 percent and the y-on-y inflation for the Foodstuffs component was 1.93 percent.
